Leacach an Tigh Chloiche, Unival
This remote site is on the SW slopes of Unival (or Uinebhal in Gaelic). It was excavated in 1935 and was shown to be a Neolithic chambered cairn with an overlying Iron Age house.
The appearance of a stone circle comes from the peristaliths, which would once have marked the edge of the stone pile forming the cairn.

The Grid Reference is NF 797668 and there is a half decent track approaching from the SW for some of the way.
Be warned - it feels very remote. More information can be found on the Canmore site here. |
