We are delighted to invite you to attend a ‘live’ Talk and Walk with Ian Armit, Professor of Archaeology at the University of York (see attached poster).
The talk, “First Farmers in the West: Excavations at Eilean Domhnuill, Loch Olabhat, North Uist,” will take place at the Dark Island Hotel (St Kilda Suite) on Thursday 19 May 2022 at 7.30pm. This will be our first in-person talk in over two years! The talk will also be recorded and live streamed via Zoom. A walk with Ian, out to Eilean Domhnuill, will take place (weather permitting) on Friday 20 May, meeting at Carinish Hall at 9.45am to lift share as parking is limited up at Loch Olabhat. It is rough walking over boggy terrain so wellies essential and walking poles/sticks are recommended. Ian and his team carried out excavations at the site back in the late 1980’s so it will be fantastic to hear him speak about their discoveries. Places for both the in-person talk and the walk are limited and bookable on a ‘first come first served’ basis. For booking either or both events, please ring Anne on 07789306223 or email [email protected]. Please email us if you would like the Zoom link. Both are rree to UCAG members and £5 non-members for either event or £9 if attending both. |
