The Udal peninsula is on the north of North Uist.
It was the site of extensive excavations by Iain Crawford and provided tantalising and possibly controversial evidence of continuity of occupation over a long period from Bronze Age to late-medieval. Much of the site has been completely dug out so there is not as much to see as one might hope..
There are many other sites on the peninsula worth exploring. An incised cross, shown below, and cup-marks on the shore along with the graveyard of the Macleans of Boreray are just a few examples.
