Welcome! Uist provides a rich and diverse archaeological record dating back over 6000 years. It boasts fascinating evidence of prehistoric human activity such as standing stones, burial cairns, middens, crannogs, brochs, duns, hut circles, wheelhouses and souterrains, as well as multi period settlement mounds. There are also more recent remains such as chapels, castles, shielings, kelping bothies and abandoned townships.
